Name Entry System

I have an engine that has a good name entry system! But I don't know if I'm supposed to make it to the game's engine already. I am the main code or you guys will be trying something out too? Cause imagine like that

YOU MADE SOMETHING IN VERSION 1
I MADE SOMETHING IN VERSION 1
but then it gets confusing
I did something for version 2
but you did two... So you would have to copy it to the version I last made something, or I have to copy it?
Will be only 1 gm8 file or everyone will have one ?

if you mean keeping the info from one engine to another. Like say you had something in one and i had something in the other. Yes, i could merge them. I will just copy code. We may have to do that from time to time. Also gm8 files are the new ones for 8.1 pro. I don't use that. It's 8 pro. I haven't updated.

Neither did I! I have gm8.1 here, but never used it's pure complexity for me! But yeah, do you want that name entry screen engine or do you want me to apply it here ?

Ok maybe what we can do is have you pm me or other memebers the source files. That way it remains private, at least for now. Or if their is a way to make only a topic thread that cv3 members can see. I know other forums allow that, this one should too. But yeah i'll check it out. If you can just remove it for now thatd be good.

I like that idea actually it sounds cool, water effect huh. Yeah feel free to shoot me ideas and stuff. I am really trying to use hello 5's idea on the stormmaker for his mario engine. A really genious idea i would credit him for. Very nice.

Here is a video i found that includes intro to title screen, title screen, name menu screen, and trevor prayer scene. We should probably try and make a revamped version of this,huh.

Yeah my thoughts exactly. I was gonna say, i made the room size different in the name entry engine. When i make it 320x240 the normal size. It's coordinates are off. We defiently will have to toy with that a bit. You see if i can take a snapshot of it with the correct looking coordinates at full screen. I can then know how to make the room look. So it will look correct. IF we can get it look more lined up close to the nes verison someoen can remake it in 16 bit. But if they juss start randomly making it the box selector and letters could be off from what someone draws. I am wondering if you made the room size ther 320x240 and lined up the lettering that would work. did you do that with your engine or is it the same as this one?

My version is lined up! Just steal the codes from that gmk that I gave you, they are already lined up! :3

Ok on the name entry screen. We need to find a way to add some of those extra alphabit sets( my brain is drawing a blank on what their called,sorry). But yeah i wouldn't mind seeing those take the place of the regular font that is in game maker. It's not horrible but could use a more professional CV3 style look. Also i am gonna see if i can't get the button to be the attack(z) button as opposed to the start(enter) button. Unless you guys wanna keep it that way. I think cv3 nes style uses maybe even both, but either way it's not that big a deal so long as a button works to enter your name.

I have no idea what is the best one to choose, but we do have that controller options so you can select what you want for any button

ok i didn't get to after the balloon pods cause of band practice and just got on though it's starting to get late. I will see if you hit attack if it will work without messing anything up. If so that's cool, if not i'll leave it as start(enter).

Also when you type in your name in the name entry screen does it do anything in game? or just for show. I don't remember but i though nothing really happens in cv3 orginal. It may be weird to post your name and have it show up on teh hud while playing. Eh i like canon ideas though. I dont remember anyways!

I think it may be only on the saved data name. I thought about that on my game.
It would be kinda ridiculous to select your name as BIGBALLS_BILLY and then you press start and see Richters face with : BIGBALLS_BILLY written under it. LOL
